Mandurah artist Emma Blyth has grown up in the Peel region and has been inspired by its natural environment and lifestyle. The main features in this year's artwork is Mandurah's blue manna crab and our Old Mandurah Bridge.

"This year's work was quite a special piece for me! Mandurah's 62 year old traffic bridge - which locals affectionately refer to as "the Old Bridge", is being replaced due to reaching its use-by date. I have painted this piece as a classic Old Bridge memorabilia work using natural colours, gold leaf and of course our good old blue manna crab swimming under it!"

"The bridge brings back a lot of fond memories for the locals of Mandurah. Family days of fishing and crabbing under it, jumping off it with friends and just walking over it! I have some great memories catching herring and prawns, plus the odd blowie with my Pop. Actually, to tell the truth I think it was mainly blowies, but hey, we all know they were a lot of fun!"

"It has been so exciting to be involved with the City of Mandurah since the commencement of the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest in 1999. After nearly 20 years of festivals, 14 original artworks and many happy visitors, I have seen it grow to be one of the largest festivals in WA. It is an awesome showcase for our City and feel so honoured to be a part of it."

"My original artwork painted specifically for the event is used for all the promotions for the Crab Fest. It was auctioned last year with all proceeds going to Telethon. I have been creating the artwork for the festival since its commencement and over the years I am very proud to have raised over $12,000 for charities."

Be sure to drop into Emma's marquee on the foreshore and meet the artist. You can check out the original Crab Fest artwork and also view other original works, prints and art gifts including exclusive Crab Fest merchandise.

Emma has a gallery located at 9 Smart Street, Mandurah. Open 7 days. Or, alternatively you can discover an extensive portfolio of her work and shop online at www.emmablyth.com.au and see what's happening in Emma's studio at www.facebook.com/EmmaBlythArtist.
